This was done for a story, "Cast a Cold Eye," by William Barton, to be published in Fantastic Stories. 
Unfortunately, the magazine folded before the story and the illustration could be published.  (I did get paid, though!) 
This acrylic painting (16 x 20) is still available for sale.  $1500.
