"Derelict," for The SFWA (Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America) Bulletin, Spring 2005.
This work is now in the collection of the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle.
This painting is quite bumpy, as the canvas is covered with lumps of glue, skewers, and one pencil.
The idea is that a human spaceship has discovered an ancient alien derelict spaceship. The round thing on the human ship is a hamster wheel for people. The background is a Nebula, where we see the fast wind rear-ending the slow wind. This issue of the Bulletin will feature the winners for the Nebula Awards (get it?).
