Carhenge, Alliance, Nebraska

Carhenge was built in eight days and finished just in time for the summer solstice, June 21, 1987. Creator Jim Reinders aligned Carhenge by the same compass points at Stonehenge. However, given the difference in latitude between the location of Stonehenge (51 degrees north) and Alliance (42 degrees north), the sun illuminates Carhenge's principal axis 23 days after it does so at Stonehenge.
