This is the most pleasing Japanese Garden I have ever seen, better, for example, than the over-crowded one in San Francisco. Each, though, has its attractions. San Francisco's has a beautiful pagoda and a fun humpbacked bridge, but Portland's (which is much larger) has a rock garden, smaller crowds, and more space.
